This week, let’s look at the characters portrayed in The Bible series. Consider the ways in which God used them for a specific purpose and plan, and see how the course of one could affect many. Look at their actions, their reactions, their strengths and their weaknesses. These characters, in the hands of a mighty God, accomplished great works. Think about the following characters and their stories:
Rahab helped to hide enemy spies, diverted the attention of the authorities and helped the spies to escape. Rahab and her family were spared when the city of Jericho was seized. What do Rahab’s actions and faith show you about the power of your actions, your faith and your God?
God gifted Samson with great strength with which Samson was able to defeat his enemies with. It was only when he succumbed to Delilah that his gift was taken. Consider the gifts God has given you and for what purposes these were given. How important is it to protect these gifts God has given to you?
When David was anointed by Samuel, the Bible says, “from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David” (1 Samuel 16:13b). How can you more fully partake of the power that is available to you?
As David felled Goliath with a tiny stone, God sent a “little word,” the External Word in infant form, to fell the Prince of Darkness. Take a few moments to ponder the ways in which God has “felled” the work of the devil in you heart and life.
