3/14 Update: Governor Cooper has issued an executive order prohibiting gatherings of more than 100 people. Please watch the service online at kingspark.org/live or on our Facebook page.
Dear King’s Park Family,
In light of increasing concerns about COVID-19, I want to share an important update on how we will continue to provide a safe environment for you and your family.
Stay in Faith & Love
Unfortunately, fear has become more contagious than COVID-19. I want to encourage you to let God’s love for you and His love for others rule in your life, rather than allowing fear to rule. Christ and His kingdom are primary and Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33). We follow Jesus above our fears or concerns. As believers, let’s not panic, but instead, let us continue to love people and pray. Let’s pray for people’s souls and an increase in the church’s influence during this perplexing time. Let’s also pray for God to eradicate this virus and limit its effects.
Follow Health Guidelines & Institutional Mandates
Leaders in the government, schools and our workplaces are taking precautions to protect us from the continued spread of this virus. Governor Roy Cooper has discouraged “gatherings of more than 100 people”1 and the UNC System has adapted classes for distance learning.2 We encourage you to heed the advice of the public health professionals as you make decisions for yourself and your families, and we highly recommend you check out the CDC Flu Prevention Guidelines.
Sunday Gathering on March 15
Your wellbeing is important to us, so in keeping with faith and wisdom, the staff and elders at King’s Park RTP/Durham are making arrangements to live stream our service on our website, allowing you to participate from home or elsewhere. We will record the service from our sanctuary on Sunday morning at 10am. Our doors will be open if you plan to attend, and we will be available to pray for you.
We are releasing all volunteers from Sunday morning responsibilities, therefore we will not have Children’s Ministry, Communion, Hospitality or Growth Track stepTHREE. We will also not pass offering baskets during the service, but we encourage you to continue to give to our mission online through PushPay or by mailing in a check.
Life Groups Will Continue
During this time, our Life Groups will continue to meet at the discretion of each group. Our groups are a great way for us to continue to grow together in community and bring encouragement during these difficult times.
We will continue to assess the situation throughout this week and will communicate a decision about our March 22nd gathering by Thursday, March 19th. Please continue to pray for us all as we seek to be in faith, exercise wisdom, and love people well as a King’s Park Family. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
